【摘要】:Newandusedpetroleumproductscancontainbasicconstituentsthatarepresentasadditives.Therelativeamountsofthesematerialscanbedeterminedbytitrationwithacids.Thebasenumberisameasureoftheamountofbasicsubstanceintheoil,alwaysundertheconditionsofthetest.Itissometimesusedasameasureoflubricantdegradationinservice;however,anycondemninglimitsmustbeempiricallyestablished.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofbasicconstituentsinpetroleumproductsbytitrationwithperchloricacidinglacialaceticacid.1.2ProceduresAandBusedifferenttitrationsolventvolumesandsampleweights.Note1-Aroundrobinonaseriesofnewandusedoilsandadditiveconcentrateshasshownthatthetwoproceduresgivestatisticallyequivalentresults.1.3AppendixX2providestheuseofanalternativesolventsystemwhicheliminatestheuseofchlorobenzeneinthistestmethod.Theuseofthealternativesolventgivesstatisticallyequivalentresults;however,theprecisionisworse.Paragraphprovidesguidancewhencomparingresultsusingthetwodifferentsolvents.1.4Theconstituentsthatmaybeconsideredtohavebasiccharacteristicsincludeorganicandinorganicbases,aminocompounds,saltsofweakacids(soaps),basicsaltsofpolyacidicbases,andsaltsofheavymetals.Note2-ThistestmethodisapplicabletobothfreshoilsandusedoilsasdescribedinSections16,17,and19andAppendixX1.1.5Thistestmethodcanbeusedtodeterminebasenumber>300mgKOH/g.However,theprecisionstatementinSectionhasbeenobtainedonlyonbasenumber300mgKOH/g.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificwarningstatements,seeSection7,Section10,andX2.2.
